Kids at SWITCH Policy

The following is a summary of the eligibility requirements when working with children. 

 

Kids in Gym Policy

16 to 17 Years

  • Eligible to participate in all group fitness classes.
  • Eligible to participate in unsupervised resistance training.
  • Eligible to use cardiovascular equipment unsupervised.

14 to 15 Years

  • Parent/guardian signature on membership contract required.
  • Must complete pre-exercise screen questionnaire prior to commencement of any program.
  • Parent/guardian must sign pre-exercise screen questionnaire as well as child.
  • Eligible to participate in group fitness classes that are non-weights based.
  • Not eligible to participate in unsupervised resistance training or weights-based group fitness classes.
  • Eligible to participate in supervised resistance training on provision that: - Pre-exercise screen (ExPARA) has been assessed by qualified staff member - an initial resistance training program has been written and is to be supervised by a qualified member of staff or parent.
  • Eligible to use cardiovascular equipment unsupervised.

12 to 13 Years

  • Parent/guardian must sign questionnaire on behalf of child/young adolescent
  • Must complete pre-exercise screen questionnaire prior to commencement of any program.
  • Eligible to participate in supervised group fitness classes that are non-weights based.
  • Not eligible to participate in unsupervised resistance training or weights-based group fitness classes.
  • Eligible to participate in supervised resistance training on provision that: - Pre-exercise screen (ExPARA) has been assessed by qualified staff member - an initial resistance training program has been written and is to be supervised by a qualified member of staff or parent.

Kids in Gym Policy – Group Fitness Classes

16 to 17 Years

  • Eligible to participate in all group fitness classes.

14 to 15 Years

  • Eligible to participate in the following group fitness classes unsupervised: Fit Boxing, RPM, Metafit, Yoga, Yogalates, Body Balance, Aqua, Swimfit.

12 to 13 Years

  • Eligible to participate in the following group fitness classes with supervision: RPM, Metafit, Fit Boxing, Yoga, Yogalates, Body Balance, Aqua, Swimfit.
