What do you love about being an LTS teacher?
“Teaching children has always been a huge passion in my life. To watch a child, grow and build on their confidence in themselves is so rewarding.
Swimming does not come naturally to all children; many are crippled by fear. Working along side these children is such an honour. I often say, 'It’s a bonus I get paid for what I do'.
Stepping behind the scenes to be part of where the magic happens in being a coordinator is amazing, to know that you are responsible for leading a great and passionate team and encouraging the greater community to join the Swimsations family is a reward in itself. Bridging the gap between teacher, student and parent is a huge part of my role and to provide this ongoing communication continues to provide an A class service for our families."

What do you love about being an LTS teacher?
“I began teaching Learn to Swim after the birth of my first child. Previously, I had been working as a high school teacher. I wanted to combine my love of teaching with my love of swimming, so made the perfect career change. I have now been teaching Learn to Swim for seven + years and Coaching for three + years. As a teacher I have always been passionate about helping young people learn and develop their potential to achieve success. Learning to swim is an essential skill and saves lives. It’s also an amazing and fun way to keep fit and healthy.
I love competing in triathlons and running events. Training with a squad is a great way to learn new skills and drills, stay motivated and focused on the goal/event ahead. After all, it doesn’t matter how old or young, tall or short, big or small you are swimming is something anyone can master and become stronger/faster with the right support."

What do you love about being a LTS teacher?
"My swimming journey started when I was six years old, at school swimming in France. It wasn’t the best experience because back then we had only one teacher for 15 + children. For this reason, I never learnt to swim with my swimming lessons and was even scared to go to the pool. Eventually, I learnt to swim in the ocean with my Grandfather when I was eight. It’s only years later that I started more regularly and enjoyed it.
I promised to myself to do my best to give each child I teach the best experience possible. I enjoy seeing their satisfaction when they overcome challenges that they thought impossible. I feel proud when I see their swimming ability week after week, all while having a big smile on their face.
I have been teaching Learn to Swim for nearly four years and still enjoy it as if it was the first day. Previously, I was working in Marine Biology research in Tahiti and prior to that I was part time firefighter in France while studying. I loved these jobs and managed to find a perfect combination in teaching swimming. I took my love for the water and fitness, added my compassion and desire to help others together and became a swim teacher."

What do you love about being an LTS teacher?
“I grew up by the Murray River, and have always believed that swimming is an essential life skill that everyone should learn. When we moved to the Northern Rivers, I joined our local surf lifesaving club as a continuation and expansion of my families love of swimming. I am an active surf lifesaver and help out with Nippers. I also coach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so becoming a Learn to Swim Teacher was a natural progression. Teaching people to swim is very rewarding, and it’s wonderful to see their skills and confidence grow."

"I have always enjoyed swimming and as an early Childhood Educator this was an easy transition to combine both the love of swimming and teaching young children water safety and how to swim.
I want to share my passion for swimming with the future generation. I believe it is imperative for children to learn water safety and swimming. Swimming saves lives! It is a fun healthy activity that the whole family can participate in and enjoy.

“Swimming is a huge part of my life and I have now been swimming competitively for over 30 years. I swim at least 15km’s every week. I’m lucky to have some great coaches and mentors over the years and I am now loving being able to pass on my knowledge and experience to the kids that do Learn to Swim at GSAC Swimsations. Teaching swimming is such a rewarding and important job and no two shifts are ever the same. Seeing the kids progress through the program and gain their confidence and independence in the water is a great feeling."

What do you love about being a LTS teacher?
"During my childhood I lived at a beach for three years and participated in learn to swim classes as an essential life skill. I taught my four children how to swim all strokes and how to dive with confidence. My eldest daughter received an accolade for achieving Senior Girl Swimming Champion for Casino West School and recently my second eldest grandson achieved Senior Boy Swimming Champion for Casino Public School.
It has brought me great pleasure to teach swimming. I believe every child should have the opportunity to learn to swim and gain a skill that encourages confidence in themselves, their abilities and making new friendships through play, fun and enjoyment."
